Pick up almost any kudzu supplement and you will find a milligram figure on the front. What you will very rarely find is the only number that tells you whether it does anything.

Kudzu root is not the active ingredient. The isoflavones inside it are — puerarin, daidzin and daidzein. Those are the compounds the human research is about, and their concentration in an extract varies enormously depending on how it was made.

Which means a capsule can be honest about its weight and still be almost empty of the thing you are buying it for.

The arithmetic

Velmora is 3,000 mg of kudzu root extract per daily serving, standardised to 40% isoflavones. Forty per cent of three grams is roughly 1,200 mg of isoflavones a day.

That standardisation figure is the whole argument. Without it, a milligram number on a label is a statement about powder, not about potency.

Yes, it is six capsules

This is the objection we hear most, so here is the honest answer: three grams of anything does not fit into one capsule. It is not physically possible.

So when you see a kudzu product offering a convenient one-a-day, you are looking at a fraction of a dose with the word kudzu doing the heavy lifting. The capsule count is not a flaw in our product. It is the arithmetic of actually giving you three grams.

Two ingredients, and nothing to hide behind

Kudzu root extract, and the acacia gum that lets the capsule fill. That is the entire formula.

There is no proprietary blend, which is the phrase the supplement industry invented so that it never has to tell you how much of anything is in the tub. There is no vitamin stack bolted on to lengthen the ingredient list. There is nothing else in there.

What the research says, stated plainly

Researchers at McLean Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated teaching hospital, gave heavy drinkers standardised kudzu extract and observed them drinking normally. They drank less, and they drank slower. A single dose taken before a session was enough to see it. A separate trial checked whether kudzu makes alcohol hit harder, and found it does not.

Those studies are small — dozens of people rather than hundreds — and short, and they measured behaviour rather than long-term outcomes. None of them tested this product. We would rather you heard the size of that from us than found it out later.

Why the research stayed small

Nobody can patent a root. Trials that cost tens of millions are funded by companies buying twenty years of exclusivity, and there is no exclusivity to buy on a plant that grows wild across half of Asia.

So the work stays small and grant-funded, permanently. That is the real reason you have not heard of this, and it is also why the honest thing we can offer is a dose you can check rather than a claim you have to take on faith.
